Harley Fur Developement
I'm making this page to show the Harley fur development from day one that my Harley
babies are born. So far I have recently just produced my very first Harley
baby and have been taking a good amount of pictures to see the fur growth myself
too, and I thought maybe others would also like to see it too as I've heard that
Harleys fur development has some hair-loss in at least once of their early molts, but
I've never really seen any real good pictures to show it yet. I have seen that they do also have hair-loss later in life too so I will be keeping up with pictures throughout all of the Harleys lives that I produce in my rattery :) I will also compress this page down to links to each individual Harley rats as I produce more so that this page won't just keep going on forever with multiple ratties on it lol
So far I've only produced this one little girl very recently...just 10 days ago. As I produce more I'm thinking we will probably see differences between the does and bucks as I've heard from other breeders that the bucks have more hair-loss than the does do. I think this page will be a real nice education and information for myself and others too I hope :)

Below is to show the growth of my very first Harley baby produced in my program and how the fur growth looks and the whiskers to have to look back at for myself and also for others who would like to see for educational and informational purposes.

Day 1, the day the baby was born with her 4 littermates. There was 4 Standard coated babies and 1 Harley in the litter :) I was worried that she was Hairless as I was having a trouble see the whiskers or getting a good pics of them. To the right is the best pic I got of her. Her name is BRAT Hope :)

Day 11, 10 days old...Wow, I am just so loving this so sweet little girl!! All of her siblings are such monsters already trying to crawl all over the place, but Hopie is such a doll! She just loves to be held and snuggled and lets e hold her however way I want...just so in love with this sweetie! So love how her fur is coming in too...definitely can't wait for the fluffy stage though lol :)

Day 12, 11 days old...I'm just so amazed with my little Hopie how she's developing...so far at this age exactly what I've expected the coat to look like...although how shiny it is was more than I expected, but other than that so far at this age is what I've expected....just beautiful! I'm so in love! I love how she has the Mohawk thing going on at the back of her neck hehe

Day 16, 15 days old...Wow, over night her fur got even longer! :D So love how her fur looks today :) I've also noticed that she is the smallest of the litter...not sure if she's a runt or just a real small Dwarf. Either way she's touched my heart to no end :) She is a laid back rattie, but from what I've seen so far with all of the Dwarfs that I've had all of them have been very snuggly, unlike the very crazy active that I've been told of Dwarfs.

Day 28, 27 days old...Wow, look at that fur sticking straight up on end! Hahaha So adorable! <3 Because her fur is so long you can see her skin, but really she doesn't seem to have lost any fur though...it's just sticking straight up more haha So love it :) I'm still worried about her health though...she has always been the smallest of the bunch and she does seem to have energy but just not as much as her sibs :(

Day 39, 39 days old...still not sure about any fur-loss yet or funky molting...I keep thinking I can see her skin because her fur is just so long...still so love it :)
Unfortunately my sweet little Hopie did not live long after these pics were taken :( I knew something was wrong with her since she was very tiny...the next few days after this day I started to notice her health really decline and she passed just 4 days after this day :'( I have been told from another breeder that the Harley Dwarf in this line did have very quick deteriorating health and die young, and after experiencing this with my very first Harley Dwarf baby I have decided to outcross in hopes that my other Dwarf will bring in their healthy genes to hopefully be able to strengthen the Harleys <3 As with all of the Harley lines breeders are working with they all need much work towards better health |
